H. E. Maithripala Sirisena – My Tryst with Humility

I was overwhelmed by the modesty and nobility of the President of Sri Lanka, His Excellency Maithripala Sirisena as I had the privilege of meeting him at the International Air Port at Kochi. Despite being the Head of the State, His Excellency chose to retain his moorings by taking a commercial flight. He has rightly set an example for others to emulate.

The discussion with His Excellency was not only informative but also enlightening. Being a man of action and few words, His Excellency gave an idea of the various development programmes that is in store for the country.
In response to my request, His Excellency has agreed to visit Kerala on a future occasion. The honorary consulate is eagerly looking forward for His Excellency’s visit, as it would give a major boost to our activities in the State.

Taking a cue from the words of His Excellency, the Consulate at Thiruvananthapuram is already in the process of moving in that direction. His Excellency has offered and assured all assistance and support in the affairs of the Consulate. His Excellency has come up from the rank and file and still continues to remain as a man of the masses. Right from his early days and continuing as on date, His Excellency has always been striving for the unity, integrity and sustained development of the country. Signs to that effect have already begun to emerge.

At our end, the Honorary Consulate of Sri Lanka in Kerala is extremely thankful to His Excellency for the continued support and encouragement. We are confident and hopeful of translating the ideas into reality.
